Jean Hofve, DVM is a veterinarian, writer, and consultant with more than 30 years of experience in holistic veterinary nutrition and health care.
Her work focuses on a simple question: How can we help pets live healthier, happier lives? That question led her from clinical practice into nutritional science, holistic therapies, animal advocacy, and decades of writing to help pet guardians make informed decisions.
Dr. Hofve is the co-founder, with behaviorist Jackson Galaxy, of Little Big Cat, a trusted educational resource devoted to holistic health for cats and dogs.
She is a long-time advisor to the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO), a faculty member with Holistic Actions for Healthy Pets, and has written for dozens of publications. She co-authored the award-winning The Complete Guide to Holistic Cat Care, as well as Paleo Dog and the Amazon best-selling What Cats Should Eat. Her animal welfare advocacy has helped support multiple bans on cat declawing across North America.
Now retired from clinical practice, she lives a nomadic life while continuing to write, research, and advocate for the health and happiness of pets.
