David W. Berner

David W. Berner spent decades telling other people stories as a broadcast journalist for CBS Radio in Chicago and other

major outlets. But he learned early, at a country music station outside Pittsburgh, that the best storytelling is not all

about the facts. It is about the human truth underneath them.

That understanding has shaped everything David has written since. He is the award-winning author of fiction,

creative nonfiction, memoir, short stories, and poetry, and has been honored with the Eric Hoffer Book Award, the NYC Big Book Award, and awards from the Society of Midland Authors. He also has served as the Writer-in-Residence at both the Jack Kerouac Project and the Ernest Hemingway Birthplace Home and Museum.

AMERICAN MOON is his latest novella, published by Regal House Publishing. It is the kind of book he has been

moving toward his entire career. A story about two people on the road, searching for something they cannot

quite name, set against the vast and unforgiving American landscape.

He lives and writes outside Chicago.
