Patrick Chaplin

Dr. Patrick Chaplin has been playing darts since he was twelve years old (which is a long time ago) and has written authoritatively on the history and development of the sport for many years. He has co-authored books with three professional darts players, John Lowe, Trina Gulliver MBE and Bobby George. His articles on darts have been widely published and he has been featured on numerous radio and TV shows talking about the sport.

Patrick was awarded his PhD in 2006 by the Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge for his dissertation DARTS IN ENGLAND 1900-39 - A SOCIAL HISTORY which was published by Manchester University Press in 2009 (paperback, 2012); the book being shortlisted for the prestigious Lord Aberdare Prize for Sports History.

Known globally as 'DR. DARTS', Patrick also writes a monthly FREE on-line publication, DR. DARTS' NEWSLETTER (DDN) which currently has subscribers in over 120 countries. You can join for free via his website www.patrickchaplin.com.

Patrick is also co-author of the local history work LANGFORD - AN OBSCURE ESSEX VILLAGE TRANSFORMED which was publish in 2014.

Patrick lives in Essex, England with his wife Maureen and their cat Angel.
