Mal Foster

Very much a self-proclaimed “writer of the ordinary man,” Mal Foster was born in 1956 and grew up in Camberley, Surrey, before moving to nearby Knaphill in the late 1980s.

He had left school just before his sixteenth birthday in 1972 to help financially support his single mother and younger brother. Around this time, he began writing poetry, and indeed, his first poems were published soon after.

Now semi-retired, he counts his time as a local journalist as a career highlight.

His chart-topping first novel, 'The Asylum Soul', was published in 2015.

Five further novels were to follow: 'Fly Back and Purify', 'An Invisible Nemesis', 'Jude & Bliss', 'Fluke's Cradle', and 'The Story of Virna Babineaux'. Each book further enhanced his reputation as a credible independent author.

Endorsed by many Marc Bolan / T.Rex aficionados, his highly acclaimed seventh novel, 'In the Shadow of Marc Bolan', was published in July 2024.

In June 2026, Mal published his highly rated, 'Betrayal of the Soul,' which has gained him many more new followers.

He is currently researching ideas for his next book. Updates can be found on his website and on his social media pages.

All titles are available in paperback and e-book formats. A hardcover version of 'Fluke's Cradle' is also available.
