Mikka Haugaard was born in Denmark in 1953. She studied Classics at Cambridge but she has been living in London since 1980. As well as writing, she has taught Classics and Psychology, translated Hans Christian Andersen and worked briefly as a chamber maid. She tries to divide her time between London and Italy. She has a love of cities and her novels are fiercely urban. She has written two books, Gabriel's Bureau and the Dream Maker - her style is simple with a touch of humour and irony.
