Beryl Darby

Thirty years ago Beryl Darby wrote the first guide book to the island of Spinalonga, which lies in the beautiful bay of Mirabello. The area has provided the backdrop for various films, T.V. series and books, including 'The Island' by Victoria Hislop. Inspired by the Cretan leprosy patient she met, Beryl wrote YANNIS, based on his true life history. YANNIS became the first book in a successful Greek saga. The eleven volume series covers the events that affect the family from 1918 up to the present day. She has an established following of readers who wait avidly for the next book to follow the fortunes of 'the family'. Beryl Darby lives in the south of England.

Beryl Darby has just published an updated guide book to Spinalonga entitled 'Spinalonga - The Lepers' Home' and will be available from 12th March 2013.
