With an eclectic background in the ski industry, retail, and British and Canadian academia, Simon is a fount of international experience, amusing anecdotes, and comprehensive customer service and hospitality information. He gets his cosmopolitan and creative ideas from a background at the University of Calgary, Canada, and the University of Brighton, England as well as visiting positions in Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Fiji, New Zealand, the United States and Australia. Between traveling, teaching, researching and writing academic papers, Dr. Hudson has managed to fit in 11 books: Snow Business; Sports and Adventure Tourism; Marketing for Tourism and Hospitality: A Canadian Perspective; Tourism and Hospitality Marketing: A Global Perspective; Golf Tourism; Customer Service for Hospitality & Tourism; Marketing for Tourism, Hospitality and Events; A Worldwide Guide to Retirement Destinations; and two books on the impacts of the pandemic on travel called COVID-19 & Travel and International Case Studies on Tourism Destination Management and COVID-19.

With his strong background in marketing, sales and advertising in both the travel and the fashion industries, Dr. Hudson is always interested in the bottom line. The marketing of tourism is the focus of his research and in addition to the books he has written more than 100 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters from his work.
