Bertie Marshall

Bertie Marshall, performer and author. Born in Greenwich, South London. In the mid-1970's he was part of the mythic Bromley Contingent, a group of suburban teenagers - the very first participants in the London Punk scene.

In 1996, Marshall was awarded a writer's bursary by Southeast Arts Council for first novel PSYCHOBOYS. It was published 1997 and became a cult hit. Legendary writer Kathy Acker praised Marshall's writing as 'the nastiest of the punk boys ... the one who knows, who dead pirates are.'

2014. Nowhere Slow, collected writings by Ledatape.org.

2015. The British Library purchased Marshall's writing archive.

2017. 'Wild, re-write' a booklet produced by Reading University.

2018. His novel, THE PEELER is published by Dostoyevsky Wannabe.

2019. Pete's Underpants - published by Dostoyevsky Wannabe.

In 2020, Marshall was recipient of The Gilbert and George Arts foundation award for outstanding writing.

2021 - Marshall released an album - on all platforms - of songs and spoken words tracks from the 1980s/90s entitled ‘Exhibit’ through Upset the rhythm Records and played shows in London, Manchester, Utrecht, Paris, Berlin and NYC.

He is currently working on two books.
