Alan Beard is a short story writer with two collections 'Taking Doreen out of the Sky' (Picador 1999, also available on Kindle) and 'You Don't Have to Say' (Tindal Street Press, 2010). He has won the Tom-Gallon award and had stories in 'Best Short Stories 1991', and Best British Short Stories 2011 (salt). He has published in many magazines and anthologies online and in print including 'Critical Quarterly', 'Malahat Review', 'London Magazine', 'Telling Stories 3' and three were broadcast on Radio 4. His work has received very good notices in places like the TLS, The Sunday Times, Time Out etc.
