Martin Hagger

Martin S. Hagger, Ph. D. is Professor of Health Psychology in the Department of Psychological Sciences at University of California, Merced, USA and Finland Distinguished Professor (FiDiPro) in the Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. He gained his undergraduate and doctoral degrees from Loughborough University in England, and received a further Ph. D. from the University of Jyväskylä in Finland. His research applies social psychological theory to predict, understand, and change health behaviors. His research interests also include developing and advancing social psychological theory applied to health through theory integration and testing theory predictions using meta-analysis. He is former editor-in-chief of Health Psychology Review, Stress and Health, and Psychology of Sport and Exercise. He is also Distinguished International Affiliate of Division 38 (Health Psychology) of the American Psychological Association (APA), Fellow of European Health Psychology Society (EHPS), and Fellow of the Society of Experimental Social Psychology (SESP).
