(2026) AUTOMATICALLY DEAD: DCI Ron Webb has a baffling case in Lavenham when a collector of automatons is found strangled in a room locked from the inside. Was it an interrupted robbery gone wrong, a disgruntled business partner, his wife, or his niece who was responsible? What role did the valuable collection of elaborate mechanical marvels play? Together with DS Peggy Catchpole and the rest of his small team, the puzzle must be solved. (Book 9 IN THE RON WEBB MYSTERY SERIES)
(2025) EXPLORING HEATHEN PATHS 309 illustrated pages
This book is an illustrated comprehensive survey of historical and archaeological information, plus academic commentary, brought together in a way that allows key ancient sources to be compared and analysed. Full referencing is given, and personal opinions are clearly labelled distinctly separate from the facts.
(2025) HEREWARD, HERO OF EAST ANGLIA: With illustrated geographic, religious and historical context.
William thought he had conquered England in 1066. East Anglia didn't agree!
Hereward fought a successful guerrilla war in the Fenlands of East Anglia against the Normans who had invaded his home. Whilst many rebellions failed quickly, Hereward’s lasted for years, attracting heavyweight allies and using the natural landscape against his enemies. His wild youth had resulted in his exile at eighteen, but his experiences abroad honed his fighting skills. Inevitably, some fanciful tales (and an inaccurate epithet, ‘The Wake’) have added to his legend over the ages, and contemporary texts disagree on some details.
The author seeks to clarify facts from fiction by looking at this flawed and probably Anglo-Danish hero in the context of his region. That includes local and national history, drastically different geography, the heavy influence of the Christian conversion, disputes and their expanding impact. This book isn’t just about one man; it is about a unique region’s history, culture, and the people involved.
