Norris Brock Johnson

Norris Brock Johnson is Professor Emeritus, Department of Anthropology, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During 1985-1986 he was a Fulbright fellow and faculty member at the University of Tokyo, Komaba, and Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan. He has been studying gardens in Japan for twenty years, and he continues to write on his first-hand study of Rinzai Zen Buddhist temple and landscape architecture with priests and scholars in Kyôto and Kamakura. Professor Johnson lectures and writes on cross-cultural conceptions of the interrelationship of religion and nature as well as on aesthetic interpretations of landscapes.
