Catherine Harriott

Catherine Harriott is a British writer who has lived in many places including Florida, Bermuda and Canada. Missing in Time, which is mainly set in Robin Hood's Bay, England, in the servants' quarters of a manor house in 1912, is her debut novel. Originally a travel writer, she had the idea to write this time-travel mystery when she read about a young girl living in Orlando whose family couldn't afford to go to Disney or Universal, and wondered what it would be like to be surrounded by the towering wonderland of theme parks yet unable to enter. So she wrote about a girl who dreams of the day when she might set out on her own real adventure.

At the same time she was living in Orlando, Catherine had the idea to write a guide to help Brits adapt to Central Florida and so wrote Orlando Tips for Brits, a book she worked on for several years.
