David Saffer

David was born and brought up in Leeds. After graduating in Business Studies in London he worked in the computer industry for 17 years before a spur of the moment decision to write a book kicked off his writing career in 1997. Leeds United Cup Kings 1972, documenting his childhood team’s most iconic success, sold out within months. Dovetailing his IT and writing career, five football books, including two Times ‘Top 10’ bestseller titles, were published during the next four years. Since 2002, David has been a freelance journalist and author. From biographies of legendary footballers including Alex Stepney, Allan Clarke and Duncan McKenzie to iconic sporting moments in the FA Cup his back catalogue remains in demand. Galvinised! is his 25th title. Based in Hertfordshire with his wife Deborah, aside from writing briefs, David is a local Parish councillor, is determined to get his golf handicap down, loves spending time with his four grandsons and relaxes by listening to jazz.
