Soft cover. Condition: New. No Jacket. First edition. new, still sealed in publisher's plastic. Scarce limited edition photo book from Japanese press by iconic punk photographer Roberta Bayley who worked the door at CBGB before agreeing to accompany the Sex Pistols on their startling first American tour in 1978 - Atlanta, Memphis, San Antonio, Baton Rouge, Dallas, Tulsa, San Francisco - where Malcolm McLaren had booked the Sex Pistols into redneck dive bars for maximum trouble and international publicity. The tour included drug addiction, emergency hospitalizations, assaults on the audience by the band, legal trouble and generally massive bad faith - all in the span of two weeks. The tour ended in San Francisco on January 14 with Johnny Rotten asking the audience "Ever feel like you've been cheated?" The tour cemented the band's legend. The Sex Pistols never played together again. The following February, Sid Vicious died. This limited edition book features stunning fly-on-the-wall photos of the tour. Bayley took hundreds of photographs as Vicious tried to destroy himself and Rotten fought a final passionate battle with Malcolm McLaren to preserve the band as real touring musicians, rather than McLaren's cynical art student project driven by tabloid publicity and shock value. Rotten lost. No luxury lounges, fancy contract riders, complacency or rock star indulgences here. Bayley's famous photo "Longhorn Ballroom Marquee, Daytime, Dallas (Sex Pistols)" captures the seediness and drudgery of this final tour. Published in a very small edition by an obscure Tokyo press, Peel & Lift, this book is now legendary. *MINT.* RARE. LAST COPIES! OUT OF PRINT!
