Stephen Poxon

Stephen Poxon is engaged in a number of freelance writing projects. He has had several books published, and writes occasional pieces in magazines etc. He is always looking to develop his writing portfolio, but is often distracted by watching football and trying to see what's on television. At this time of writing (!) Stephen Poxon is working on 'In Her Own Words - Evangeline Booth' and a book project exploring some of The Salvation Army's unseen historical documents. He is collaborating with his wife, Heather, on 'Under an Emerald Heaven' - an exploration of environmental theology, and a book about Dundee United Football Club. From time to time, Stephen contributes articles to 'Late Tackle' magazine. He has a fortnightly column in 'Hartlepool Life' newspaper, and writes in the 'Methodist Recorder'. He is the Editor of 'Christian Writer' magazine on behalf of the Association of Christian Writers. Stephen Poxon has worked with different publishers (Monarch/Lion Hudson, Darton Longman and Todd, Authentic Media, and Pitch Publishing) to produce a series of books covering faith and football. This series includes 'Through the Year' titles (Christian daily reading compilations) featuring 'Through the Year with William Booth', Catherine Booth, John Wesley, Charles Wesley, John Newton, The Pilgrim Fathers, and Michael Green, as well as 'Christmas with Charles Dickens' (Advent, Christmas & New Year devotional readings) and 'A Pleasant Year with Father Brown' (devotional reading based around GK Chesterton's priest detective). He has also written 'Poolies at Heart - Celebrating Hartlepool United's Finest' and 'Ernie!' - Heartfelt Reflections of the career of Chesterfield FC's record goalscorer. His most recent project is 'Return to the Heart': Lent Reflections from St. Augustine' (for Lent 2027).
