Vivek Singh is one of the most successful and respected modern Indian chefs in the country, with three renowned London restaurants to his name.
The past few years have been a huge success for Vivek Singh; not only did the executive chef and CEO behind The Cinnamon Club and Cinnamon Kitchen launch his third venture, Cinnamon Soho in 2012. 2014 saw the launch of Vivek’s fifth cookbook, Spice at Home. With recipes from his home in India and his home in the UK, the book connects the two cultures by spice, perfectly reflecting Vivek’s unique culinary style.
Since first opening its doors in 2001 at the Grade II- listed Old Westminster Library, The Cinnamon Club has singlehandedly redefined modern Indian cuisine by combining Indian spicing with western culinary styles. The man behind the menu went on to launch
Cinnamon Kitchen in the City in 2008 alongside adjoining bar Anise - famed for its creative, spice-infused cocktails – before setting up shop just off Carnaby Street with Cinnamon Soho. A more casual take on his concept, Vivek’s latest restaurant was immediately welcomed into the foodie fold by London’s most discerning diners and its ‘All Balls’ were listed amongst Time Out’s 100 Best Dishes in London.
2012 saw Vivek pop-up across the pond at Desmond’s Restaurant in New York City – a favourite amongst society types and serious foodies. Vivek’s fully booked two-week residency was the talk of the town, with widespread press coverage from the likes of the New York Times. The following year, Vivek launched Indian street food concept ‘Joho Soho’, a shabby-chic mobile street food stand serving up flavoursome dishes at festivals up and down the country including Big Feastival, Lovebox and Secret Garden Party. Outside of the kitchen, Vivek is a dedicated supporter of several charities including Action Against Hunger, Mosaic, Wooden Spoon and the Asian Restaurants Skills Board.
Vivek continues to be a regular on TV foodie shows such as Saturday Kitchen, Masterchef, and Waitrose Weekend; as well as on radio shows including BBC London and BBC Asian Network.
