My first book was Desert Biking in 1991, a self-published guidebook before self-publishing became a thing. DB evolved into the Adventure Motorcycling Handbook (AMH; 2020), now in its 8th edition. I also wrote Sahara Overland (op), Overlanders' Handbook 2 and Morocco Overland, all for Trailblazer Guides.

I co-authored several editions of Rough Guide Australia and contributed to other Rough Guides, as well as various long-distance British walking guides for Trailblazer, most recently writing Glyndwrs Way (2024). My own books include Desert Travels covering my early Saharan misadventures (reissued 2021) and The Street Riding Years; my wild years despatching in 1980s London and my highest rated book on amazon.

2021 brought the world Inflatable Kayaking. A Beginners' Guide, published by Fernhurst Books. The following year I wrote a similar guide to packrafting. My latest book Morocco Overland 4 was published in February 2025.
