The son of a coal miner and a caterer, Alan Devey grew up working class in the divided England of the 1980s. He now writes fiction, scripts and non-fiction while working as a script reader and has previously published numerous books including a novella about cryonics and being lost called ‘You Don’t Bury Survivors’ and a collection of short stories: 'Outside The Comfort Zone - Tales From Austerity Britain'.
In 2015 Alan completed a Creative Writing MA at London's Metropolitan University. He now writes a regular blog on writing and other matters at his website alandevey.net and is a presenter for the Comes With MP3s music show on Radio Woking (cwmp3.com). He is a committee member of London Comedy Writers (londoncomedywriters.com) helping to run the group while producing stage shows as well as their popular audio sitcom The Bureau of Lost Things. He also co-wrote this successful podcast.
'The Gestalt Switch' is a speculative work, mainly set in 2023, that concerns delusion, identity, polarisation and the identities we cling to.
His latest book 'Borzois and Bevuardos' is a campus-set detective comedy.
Alan lives in London with his family.
