Anita Pollack

Anita Pollack was born and bred in Australia, moved to London in November 1969 and worked in advertising and book publishing. She studied at City of London Polytechnic, gaining a BA in politics and sociology in 1979, and an MSc in political sociology at Birkbeck College, University of London, in 1981. She worked for the Labour politician Barbara Castle from 1980 to 1989, when she was elected Labour MEP for South West London, holding this seat until June 1999. She worked as Head of European Policy at English Heritage until August 2006. Since then she has been a freelance European expert. Her book on the history of Labour MEPs was published by John Harper Publishing in October 2009.
