James Marr was formerly the director of a family company managing a fleet of ships deployed in oceanographic research, marine resource management, mine-counter measures and the training of UK Special Forces.
At the turn of the Millennium he cut loose to pursue his love of overland vehicle-based travel. While venturing some 170,000 kilometres by motorcycle or 4x4, he wrote a number of articles for motoring journals, and produced three books recounting his adventures in Africa and the Americas.
His writing has moved to the thriller genre with his first novel Kill at First Light. "Devastated by the loss of her twin brother, wildlife conservationist Holly blames her billionaire father John Farmer for his death. Vowing revenge, she manipulates ex-fiancé Charlie Belanger into masterminding her own abduction, in the hope of extracting a large ransom from her father. But Charlie's plan suffers a horrifying turn when Holly and her friend Matt are abducted in Africa by a major terrorist organisation."
