Martin Limon

Martin Limon was born in Hull, East Yorkshire and attended local schools before studying for a degree in history at the University of Hull. After graduating he completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Education course at the University of Leeds and went on to teach history in two Hull secondary schools for twenty-six years.

After retirement from teaching he wrote a ‘self-published’ book on the history of Wawne Ferry and began writing local history articles for the East Riding Gazette, Yorkshire Ridings Magazine and the Journal. Tempus published his first book, Tales from the East Riding, in 2006 and two years later they published More Tales from the East Riding. In 2010 Blackthorn Press published Martin’s book ‘The Villages of East Yorkshire’ based on forty villages from the early part of the ‘Journal series’. He currently writes for a number of Yorkshire-based magazines including the Journal and the Dalesman.

When not researching and writing Martin enjoys playing snooker, doing pub quizzes and caravanning both in the UK and France. He is married and has two sons and two grandchildren.
