Fran O'Brien has been writing and publishing her novels since 2005. A total of 13 to date. At that time, she heard the founder of LauraLynn Children's Hospice, Jane McKenna, speak on radio about the reasons why she wished to establish a Children's Hospice. Jane and her husband, Brendan, have been through every parents worst nightmare - the tragic loss of their only two children. Their little girl Laura died at age four following surgery to repair a heart defect. Her big sister Lynn, died less than two years later at age 15, having lost her battle against Leukaemia - diagnosed on the day of Laura's surgery. Having dealt personally with such serious illness, Jane has seen a huge need for a "home away from home" for children with life limiting conditions and their families. They fundraised to build LauraLynn Children's Hospice for many years and it finally opened in 2011.
Fran and her husband Arthur McGuinness were very moved by her story and decided to publish one of Fran's books to try and raise funds. Up to date, they have raised €560,000.00 which is due to the generosity of people who buy the books, and hopefully you will be willing to help LauraLynn by buying one of the 8 ebooks listed on Amazon Kindle for the charity.
