John Standridge, MD, before his retirement in 2019, practiced family medicine since 1978 and worked in addiction medicine since 1979. He became board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and by the American Board of Addiction Medicine. Dr. Standridge served as Medical Director of the Council for Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services Inc. (CADAS) in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and was awarded the designation of Distinguished Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine. He was president of the Tennessee Society of Addiction Medicine. In academics, Dr. Standridge was a full professor of family medicine and internal medicine at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine Chattanooga, and was a program director for family medicine and geriatric medicine residencies. He is widely published in the medical literature and has presented medical topics internationally. He is active post retirement. In addition to publishing his sixth book and releasing his fifth music album, Dr. Standridge stays busy and survives in style with his wife (Lynna), children, grandchildren, great grandsons (Roman and Arlo), and precious poodle, Cleo; with his band, Third Sunday Orchestra; with gardening, cooking, and other delights. Professor Standridge is the author 8 books: 2 works of fiction -- The Last Best Resort and its sequel, 2025; one historic fiction, Of Iron and Blood; 2 nonfiction books -- The Delaney Kids~ Bought and Paid For, and A Standridge Family History; a children's book -- ABC's for Southern Kids; a self-help book -- The Dosepack Method: A Surefire Strategy for Stopping Smoking; and a cookbook -- Resident Chef: A Novel Cookbook. In his spare time he is an essayist, photographer, artist, musician, and chef with many side projects.
