Kerrie Ferrell

Kerrie Ferrell, daughter of Hall of Fame catcher Rick Ferrell, was born into a family of ex-professional baseball players: Rick and brothers Wes Ferrell (pitcher)and George Ferrell (minor league outfielder). She was raised in Greensboro, N.C., their hometown.

Rick worked in the Detroit Tigers' front office for three decades as general manager, vice president, and consultant. At Tiger Stadium, Kerrie enjoyed watching the Tiger baseball games every season until Rick's retirement from baseball in 1992.

In 2003, eight years after her father's death, she began exploring his baseball career, interviewing ex-ballplayers and traveling to the Baseball Hall of Fame Library in Cooperstown, N.Y. to research. With assistance from baseball historian and author William M. Anderson, the resulting biography is entitled, "Rick Ferrell, Knuckleball Catcher: A Hall of Famer's Life Behind the Plate and in the Front Office." (McFarland Publishers, 2010)

Kerrie resides in Ann Arbor, Michigan. In addition to watching baseball, she enjoys the creative arts, especially writing and playing acoustic guitar.
