Jane Gibson

Jane Gibson is a Teacher of English at the Becket School in Nottinghamshire. Many students have rated her notes as playing a significant role in their exam success.

She is a passionate teacher of literature, and believes that critical analysis should be fun and should develop the ability of the individual to read for meaning and to think independently.

Her objective as a teacher of A level Literature is to promote engagement with the text, to teach my students to read sensitively and to have the confidence to evolve a subjective understanding of ideas, plot and characterisation.

In order to attain an A* the student must write with flair, and demonstrate detailed critical understanding in analysing the ways in which structure, form and language shape meanings, and show understanding of the significance and influence of the contexts in which a text is written and received.

Her notes also include exemplar essays, based upon those submitted by A* students to show how an essay should be structured and an argument constructed based upon textual evidence.
