Ethan Thompson

Ethan Thompson is Professor of Media Arts at Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi and Co-Editor of the Peabody Series in Media History. He is the author of What was MTV? Music Television from Launch to Reality, to be published February 2027. His other books as author or editor include Parody and Taste in Postwar Television Culture, How to Watch Television, and Satire TV: Politics and Comedy in the Post-Network Era. Thompson is also a visual artist and printmaker, and directed the documentary, TV Family. He is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and earned his Ph.D. from the University of Southern California.
