Ceri Oeppen is an Associate Research Fellow in the Department of Geography, University of Exeter, UK. Previously she worked as a Senior Teaching Fellow at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS).
Most of her work is about migration, Afghanistan and the Afghan diaspora. Her doctorate (from the University of Sussex, UK) was about Afghans living in California and London, and their experiences on return to Kabul, Afghanistan. Part of the fieldwork for her doctoral research took place in the San Francisco Bay Area, the setting for the second half of Khaled Hosseini's 'The Kite Runner'.
