Sylvia Schwarzkopf

Sylvia Schwarzkopf was born in South Africa in 1951, at a time when the country was racially segregated and ruled by white supremacy. The horrors of WWII were known, yet antisemitism in South Africa was rife - and having experienced antisemitism firsthand, while seeing the cruelty towards the black population, Ms. Schwarzkopf felt the need to understand how human beings could treat their fellow humans so viciously. Ms. Schwarzkopf is an avid reader of history and philosophy. Her interest in the human psyche led to her understanding of psychological manipulation, and how it can influence entire swaths of the population. In her youth she loved writing essays and short stories, and she received local and national prizes for her writing. In 1970 she emigrated to Israel, where she has lived ever since.
