Throughout his career, Douglas Eisinger has been fascinated by science and politics, and how they combine (or not) when it comes to environmental protection. Since the mid-1980s, he has worked on solving environmental problems as a manager for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, as a consultant, and as an academic. His book, Smog Check, reflects policy-making insights he accrued over more than two decades of work on air pollution problems. He has a PhD from the University of Wales in Great Britain, a Masters in Public Policy from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, and Bachelor’s degree in Government from Cornell University. When he is not consulting for government agencies, he is teaching students about air pollution and climate change at the University of Hawaii, where he is an Adjunct Associate Professor.
