Cat Bennett is an artist, author and teacher living and working outside Boston, MA.
Her three books on drawing explore how to create an art practice and find our authentic
creative self: The Confident Creative/Drawing to Free the Hand and Mind; Making Art a
Practice, and The Drawing Club of Improbable Dreams. The Confident Creative was a 2011
gold medal winner of The Nautilus Book Awards for life-changing books.
Cat was as an illustrator for over 25 years with clients such as The Boston Globe, The New
York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine and many others. She also made
illustrations for kids' educational books for Harcourt Brace, Houghton Mifflin, Scholastic, and
others. Early in her career, she made short animated spots for CBC Sesame Street,
Nickelodeon-TV, WGBH and various nonprofits.
Her essays have appeared in The Huffington Post, The Los Angeles Times, The American, Yoga
Magazine LA, Yoga UK, Integral Yoga Magazine, Red and others.
Cat now makes and exhibits art and designs art workshops. She co-leads Club Artful with
master bookbinder Bari Zaki. Club Artful is a monthly online workshop in which participants
make uplifting art that co-ordinates with a book or package to send into the world.
