Paul O'Brien

I grew up in Dublin city where I attended Drimnagh Castle School. When I left school, I completed an apprenticeship as a Precision Toolmaker and I pursued this trade for fifteen years. In 2000 I returned to college to complete a Diploma, Degree and Masters in history. I developed an avid interest in military history ever since I began collecting toy soldiers as a boy. I currently works for the Office of Public Works. I enjoy historical research, giving talks and guided tours. I also have an interest in the British army from 1900 to 1923.

I have written extensively on the Military aspects of the 1916 Easter Rising as well as the British Army in Ireland during the period 1913-21.

My latest book Havoc deals with the Auxiliary Division of the R.I.C. and looks at them as one of the first special forces units in the world.

I have just added my first work of fiction 'Operation Lir', a Sands of Time Action Adventure on line as an E Book. check it out.
