Elise Cooke

Elise Cooke has been an unabashed tightwad most of her adult life. In 2008, she started Simpleton Solutions, a website dedicated to encouraging creative thrift.

Since then, she’s been interviewed in The Contra Costa Times and other San Francisco Bay Area newspapers, PBS' BizKid$ television show, Essence Magazine, WalletPop, Swift Resolve Coaching, BlogTalkRadio, KNRY, KBAY, The Monterey Herald, and other media outlets. She’s also a contributor for Bay Area Kids Magazine, The Bay Area News Group, eHow.com, GardenGuide.com and Examiner.com.

Elise is the author of Strategic Eating, The Econovore's Essential Guide, The Grocery Garden, How Busy People Can Grow Cheap Food, winner of the Best Books USA Green Living 2009 award, and The Miserly Mind, 12 1/2 Secrets of the Freakishly Frugal.

She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband and three kids, ages 7 to 12.
