Carter McNamara

Carter is the winner of two Independent Publisher book awards and an Axiom Business Book Award. Through his work and his writings, he shows the importance of being authentic in life. By confronting his own painful past, as chronicled in his deeply moving memoir, Wolf, he finally gained the courage to be more authentic with himself and others. Readers of his memoir are greatly inspired to do the same.

He thrives on the pursuit of knowledge, rich conversations, and playful humor. Even though he has been hailed as a thought-leader, legend, genius, and icon, Carter's most cherished triumph is his family.

He is currently enjoying his retirement in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He and his wife, Teri, commemorated their 40th wedding anniversary in July 2021.

“Among my Native people is a saying

that I can only really translate into English

using a double negative:

‘I do not remember a time when I did not know him.’

It is intended to point out and compliment

one who has had a good, significant impact on another,

an impact so great that one’s history is changed.

That is what I say to you, Carter,

I do not remember when I did not know you.”
