Des McCabe

Des McCabe is a writer exploring how the spiritual and the practical meet in our everyday lives.

His work looks at questions of work, purpose, belonging, love, God, oneness and the inner life. He does not see spirituality as something separate from ordinary experience, but as something woven through all that we do and all that we are. Des writes from everyday life itself, exploring our search for meaning, connection, identity and a kinder way of living in which we help, support and encourage one another.

At the heart of his writing are three recurring questions:

- How can we work together in ways that are kinder, more joyful and helpful to everyone?

- How can we discover our personal mission and become more fully who we already are?

- How can we care for one another, build a better world and ensure no one is left behind?

For more than forty years, Des has worked in employment, inclusion, community development, peace-building, coaching and organisational change. He founded TBG, one of the UK’s largest independent training organisations, later established Diversiton, and has advised governments, organisations and communities in the UK, Ireland and internationally.

These experiences continue to shape his writing, but increasingly his focus is on reframing familiar parts of life: how we define ourselves through work, how we respond to change, how we let go of old identities, how we live with greater kindness, and how we recognise what matters beneath the noise of achievement and activity.

His books include Work It Out!, The Twelve of One and The Breeze That Comes, alongside a growing collection of short reflections drawn from ordinary life.

Des writes in a simple, reflective style, offering questions, perspectives and encouragement that helps readers to explore more fully all that they already are.
