John J. Goehle

John J. Goehle, MBA, CASC, is one of the nation's leading experts on ambulatory surgery centers — and, more recently, the author of a memoir he spent thirty years working up the courage to write.

For three decades he has worked in ASC operations, finance, and regulatory compliance, turning the CMS Conditions for Coverage into guidance surgery center teams can actually use on survey day. He is the author of eight books on the industry, including The Survey Guide for ASCs and Ambulatory Surgery Center Governance, refreshed regularly for the current CMS rules. He hosts The ASC Podcast with John Goehle and speaks frequently at ASC conferences nationwide.

Away from the surgery center world, John has been an entrepreneur, a community-theater director, and — for nearly twenty years — a pulpit supply pastor, the preacher congregations call when they need someone to fill the pulpit. His memoir, The Tug, grew out of that quieter calling: a book about failure, faith, and the persistent inner voice that keeps pulling us toward a larger life. It is less the story of a remarkable life than a mirror held up to your own.
