Born and reared in western North Carolina, I have worked in law enforcement since 1981. Over the holidays in 2007, I suffered a leg injury and was forced out of work for several months. During that time I discovered Pelican Publishing's "Night Before Christmas" series. Upon learning there was no "Cop's Night Before Christmas," I decided to contribute one. It has been a long but wonderful process.
In addition to working on a second book, I have started a children's charity called "Santa Cops." Local uniformed officers deliver wrapped gifts to homes of children who may not otherwise receive Santa Claus deliveries. It is our goal to make Christmas as bright as possible for all children as well as enhance the image of law enforcement in our community.
I still work in law enforcement and live on a small farm in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina with my wife, three children, 7 horses, six chickens, five cats, four guineas, three dogs, two rabbits and a corn snake.
