Jim O'Donnell

Jim O’Donnell is an award winning wilderness advocate, author, podcaster, and conservation photographer based in Taos, New Mexico. His journalism has appeared in National Geographic Maps, Discover, Scientific American, Ensia, Sapiens, BBC Travel, Sierra, CityLab, New Mexico Magazine, and YaleEnvironment360 among others. Jim is the author of “Notes for the Aurora Society: 1500 miles on Foot Across Finland” and a wide range of environmental essays, travel stories and numerous speculative fiction short stories. Jim's second book, "The Fountain" will be published by Torrey House Press in early 2025.

Jim is a long-time wilderness and water advocate in the American Southwest where he works to protect and restore wetlands and watersheds.Jim teaches nature writing workshops and leads yearly photography tours to Cuba.
