Ron Vick Sr.

Ron Vick, Sr., is a counselor, academic advisor, and international student adviser at a small state college in northeast Nebraska. When he started work at the college, the Science Fiction and Fantasy Club was formed and he joined with the group as one of the advisors. Over the years the other advisors have all fell by the wayside and he is the last one standing. His interest in writing fiction was fueled by his interactions with the Club, and he began writing science fiction and fantasy (what else?) stories. The SF & F Club holds a short story contest in conjunction with WillyCon, the annual SF convention the Club puts on each spring semester. After winning the WillyCon short story contest for a couple of years, he stopped submitting to it. The authors who came over the years all said he had potential and should start sending his stories around the circuit, which he did to no avail. He is not a prolific writer, tending to spend a lot of time on each piece he writes to try and make it the best he can, so he only has six stories completed. Grandchildren came along and life was so busy that writing took a back seat, and it has been 10 years since he last set down to write something outside of work.

Having these six stories published in Jeweled Fragments: A Collection of Short Stories has rekindled the flame and he hopes to get back to writing again in the near future...he would like to see what ideas he can come up with next! Who knows - there might be another book or two in him waiting to see the light of day...
