Floris Kleijne

Born and raised in Amsterdam, Floris began writing as soon as he learned to construct sentences, first by hand in increasingly taller stacks of notepads, then on an ancient and monstrously large IBM typewriter given to him by a friend of his mother.

Since 2003, he has built a career in award-winning English-language short work, particularly in the genres of science fiction and fantasy. His Dutch-language career began in 2013, when publisher LINK published his short science fiction stories Mashup and Ontmoeting met Vormgever in their Short Fiction series.

In August 2020, his first originally Dutch-language thriller Wiegelied (Lullaby) was published. In February 2021, he made his debut at De Boekerij with his thriller Klaverblad (Cloverleaf), which won the Schaduwprijs (Shadow award) for the best Dutch-language thriller debut, was longlisted for the Gouden Strop 2021 for best thriller of the year, and shortlisted for the Bronzen Vleermuis for best debut of the year.

On January 11, 2024, Kleinste kwaad (Lesser evil) was published, the standalone sequel to Klaverblad, which was nominated for the Silver Bat 2024.
