Amanda Shuford Mayeaux has over over 28 years of experience in education from classroom teacher to school and district leadership to her current position as an assistant professor at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She believes every child deserves an expert teacher, every day, in every class.
In 2003, Amanda was named a Milken Educator and have served on several panels concerning American education. In 2006 she was blessed to share Disney's Outstanding Teacher of the Year and Disney’s Middle School Teacher of the year with her partner teachers and co-authors, Monique Wild and Kathryn Edmonds. She is the author of two books and as contributed chapters in other books.
Amanda has BA in elementary education from Northwestern State University, a Master of Arts degree in Curriculum and Instruction and Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership from Louisiana State University. She completed her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership at the University of Louisiana in Lafayette with a focus on expert teachers. She is a National Board Certified teacher in Early Adolescence Mathematics. She has presented at local, state, national, and international events and works with schools as a consultant.
She resides in south Louisiana with her husband. She loves to read, travel, and enjoy the fruits of raising two lovely daughters.
