Michael S. Kaminer, MD is known as a leader, innovator and talented cosmetic and skin cancer surgeon. He is a partner at SkinCare Physicians, an Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society graduate of the Tufts University School of Medicine, and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Haverford College. Dr. Kaminer has been an Assistant Professor of Dermatology at Harvard and Tufts Medical Schools, and is currently Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology, Section of Dermatologic Surgery and Oncology, Yale Medical School and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Medicine (Dermatology) at Dartmouth Medical School.
Dr. Kaminer is a member of numerous local and national committees, and has been involved with the prestigious Liposuction Council of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery which sets national standards for liposuction surgery. He is the author of over 100 articles and book chapters, including the introductory chapter in the well-known book Photoaging, and has served as guest editor of several special cosmetic surgery issues of Seminars in Cutaneous Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Kaminer is the editor of a comprehensive, world-class cosmetic surgery textbook, Atlas of Cosmetic Surgery, which has become one of the leading cosmetic surgery books in the world and is now in its 2nd edition. He has directed many highly-acclaimed Harvard Medical School courses and SkinCare Physicians Advanced Seminars over the past decade.
Dr. Kaminer is one of the pre-eminent educators in cosmetic surgery in the nation, having lectured at many national meetings, including the Hawaii Dermatology Conference, American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, and national meetings of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. He has also lectured at numerous international meetings and symposia, recently serving as Co-Chairman of the Anti-Aging World Congress in Paris, France. Dr. Kaminer was the Associate Editor of the Archives of Dermatology, one of the leading medical journals for dermatologists in the world, and is on the editorial board of Cosmetic Dermatology.
He has also been actively involved in the education of physicians-in-training, including past positions as the Director of Cosmetic Dermatologic Surgery education at both Harvard Medical School and the Tufts University School of Medicine. Dr. Kaminer is one of a few cosmetic surgeons in the country to direct a comprehensive cosmetic surgery fellowship program. Each year, Dr. Kaminer, along with his colleagues selects and trains three physicians, one-on-one, in the art of cosmetic and laser surgery. He also co-directs a comprehensive clinical research facility at SkinCare Physicians.
Dr. Kaminer specializes in liposuction and liposculpture, hair transplantation, Botox, laser treatments for aging skin, facial rejuvenation including Restylane and other filler substances, chemical peels, neck liposuction, and fat transplantation. He is one of the original developers of Thermage, and performed much of the original scientific research that led to the success of this ground-breaking technology. Dr. Kaminer is also known for his expertise in fat removal and body sculpting, including laser assisted lipolysis.
Dr. Kaminer has appeared regularly on local, network, and national television as an expert in cosmetic surgery, including CNN, as well as CBS, ABC, and NBC affiliates. Dr. Kaminer has been recognized as one of the leading dermatologists by Boston Magazine, honored in Who’s Who of American Medicine, Guide to Top Doctors and is frequently quoted in national news publications, including Newsweek, Glamour, Men’s Health, Mademoiselle, and Self magazines.
