Neil M Hanson

Author and Speaker Neil Hanson is originally from Kansas and currently lives in Colorado. He’s ridden his bicycle across the country, throughout the backroads in the Midwest, throughout northern Italy, from one end of the Natchez Trace to the other, and across many of the nation’s Rail Trails. Neil loves to learn, bird, hike, hunt, fish, spin yarns, and read.

A lifelong cyclist, Neil graduated from Kansas State University in the Flint Hills of Kansas, where he studied Architecture and Psychology. A short stint with an engineering firm taught him that sitting in one place and doing one thing wasn't working for him, so he began a meandering career path to which he’s remained true. He's worked as a carpenter, truck driver, concrete finisher, salesman, operations manager, computer programmer, and project manager. His executive experience included several years in c-level positions.

Today he writes early in the morning, rides his bike as often as he can, hunts and fishes a bit, and reads in the evenings. He works as a project manager for one of the largest providers of healthcare in the country, both for the entertainment and because it's how the bills get paid.

Neil’s first book, Peace at the Edge of Uncertainty, is a story of spiritual journey based on his experiences at his father’s bedside during his father’s final days, and was published in 2010. His second book, The Pilgrim Way, is a practical guide to ultralight touring on a bicycle. His third and fourth books, (Pilgrim Wheels and Pilgrim Spokes), are journey stories woven around his cycling sojourn across America.
