Jeff Stewart has always been fascinated by physics. He specialised in science at school and won a place to study engineering at Cambridge, though he quickly swapped to philosophy when the maths got too hard.
He's the right person to write about floating balloons, falling apples and the many other wonders of the universe for people who don't already understand physics because he's good at explaining difficult concepts using simple, amusing examples.
It helps too that he's continually amazed by the splendour of the world around us, and excited by the way that strange and brilliant physicists have slowly explained so much of it.
And, maybe most important of all, he isn't brilliant at maths - so he isn't going to bombard you with numbers.
