Tim Burrell

Tim Burrell is a nationally recognized authority on real estate negotiation, with over 45 years of experience as a broker, investor, contractor, attorney, and author. A pioneer in blending traditional negotiation strategies with cutting-edge AI tools, Tim is one of the most versatile minds in the business of buying and selling real estate. Tim teaches Realtors to negotiate better in continuing education courses and makes presentations at national real estate conventions on negotiating.

A licensed real estate broker since 1979, Tim has led successful real estate teams in both California and North Carolina, earning prestigious honors such as the RE/MAX Hall of Fame and Lifetime Achievement Awards and the Prudential Legend Award. He has represented individual buyers & sellers, institutional investors, and asset managers on thousands of transactions, including complex short sales, REO dispositions, and luxury property deals.

Before turning to real estate full-time, Tim practiced law in California, specializing in real estate litigation, zoning, and environmental issues. He earned his J.D. from UCLA School of Law, graduating in the top ten percent of his class, and a B.S. from Pomona College, where he was the school’s first four-year water polo letterman.

Tim is also a licensed general contractor, builder, and land developer. He fixes and flips properties in the Triangle Area of North Carolina and teaches other investors how to spot value and close deals that make financial sense. He began working in construction at age six and paid his way through law school swinging a hammer.

He has authored two previous books:

• Create A Short Sale: Your Guide Through the Short Sale Maze

Both books were favorably reviewed by the Council of Residential Specialists and have helped thousands of agents and investors improve their negotiation outcomes.

Tim has also taught law school, written for Inman News, served as a Subject Matter Expert for the Residential Real Estate Council (RRC), and spoken at national real estate conventions including Residential Real Estate Council's Sell-A-Bration, the RE/MAX International Convention, the National Association of Default Professionals, and the Institute for Luxury Home Marketing.

He lives in Wake Forest, North Carolina, with his wife Judy, his childhood sweetheart, and enjoys spending time with their two children and six grandchildren. His hobbies include windsurfing, skiing, flying single-engine airplanes, and golden retrievers.
