Deno Trakas is a professor of English and the director of the Writing Center at Wofford College. He's a slow learner but a persistent writer of poetry and fiction who needed 30 years to write and publish his first novel. He's also a third generation Greek-lite-American whose grandfather was the first Greek to settle in Spartanburg, SC. He's an avid tennis player with achy knees, and the guardian of a terrorist puppy. He's famous--whenever he goes to Publix wearing his ragged work-in-the-yard clothes and crooked hat, everybody recognizes him.
