Imani True ("The Writer True") came into being in 2007 when a lifelong wordsmith forced her alter-ego into the background and decided to try her hand at writing Erotica. Prior to that time, poetry was the main medium through which she found creative release.
Her first book, entitled "Strawberries, Stilettos, and Steam" with Erotica writer Dreama Skye, was released in the summer of 2010. It was published by NCM Publishing. That same year, more of her work was published in the anthology "Between the Sheets" by Delphine Publications. "Strawberries" won the 2011 African American Literary Award for Erotica of the Year, and "Sheets" won the award for Best Anthology.
In early 2011, her poetry was part of a collection published by Inner Child Publications. Two of her poems are featured.
Born on the east coast, True is the proud mother of one son. These days, Ms. True can be found in Las Vegas, where she works a traditional 9 to 5 until the pen pays her bills. When she's not writing, she enjoys watching crime thrillers, traveling, and surfing the internet.
True is currently working on several novels, another short story collection, and four screenplays. She'll also be featured in more anthologies. In 2012, she released "A Little Sumthin Sumthin" as an e-book and in paperback. It's her first work in the genre of crime drama, with several more to follow, including multiple crime series that will expand True's audience and solidly plant her writing into multiple genres for the future.
