At 81 years of age, Kurt Mayer continues to be a tireless advocate for Holocaust education and that those who perished in the Holocaust are not forgotten.
He recently published "My Personal Brush with History," his first-person account of fleeing Nazi Germany and life as an immigrant in the US.
Mayer appeared at the PLU Powell and Heller Holocaust Conference in March 2010 and March 2011 to sign copies of his book and present current research. He was the featured author for two days at the US Holocaust Memorial Museum in April 2011 and has held various other signings with all proceeds supporting the Pacific Lutheran University Holocaust Studies Program.
"My book is intended to give my grandchildren - ages 12, 11 and 8 - an opportunity to read, later in life, about what many believe has been an incredible journey Mayer said. "It can also be a study for those who are interested in the Holocaust and an inspiration for those who wish to prosper financially in business."
