Mark Abernethy is a journalist, speechwriter, ghostwriter and editor. In 2007, while writing for the Australian Financial Review, he published his first novel, Golden Serpent, which introduced the wise-cracking, hard man of Australian intelligence circles: Alan McQueen. Three more McQueen novels would follow - Second Strike, Double Back, Counter Attack - which established Abernethy as a writer of fast-paced, credible action thrillers with a feel for realism and issues of the day. The Weekend Australian newspaper likened him to Ian Fleming and Robert Ludlum and his novels are published in Italian translation.
