David Gordon Rose

I'm a photographer, poet and musician as well as author and publisher. A colourful background shows you have lived! It must have helped bring in crits such as "reeks of authenticity" on my thriller, Triad. The core material for this book comes from my 1968-1969 gigging with an eight-piece soul band around Europe as a young trumpet player.

I have a thriller, comedy drama, sonnet sequence and photography book on offer with other trade titles shaping up. For 2015 I'm working on a humorous book about travelling around Europe provisionally titled "The Naked Goatherder." The title shows the flavour of the book. I'm also working on enough academic stuff to keep me busy for thirty years. It was near misses in the '80s and '90s with Chambers, the Cambridge University Press, Routledge and an American reference publisher that drove me to keeping several grand titles alive. "Rose's Thesaurus" for example, a sure marketing success when always listed beside Roget's Thesaurus.

My publisher/author site is www.rosetintedspecs.com. I'm hoping that 2015 will see the first volume of my "Popular Encyclopaedia of Sex: Sex in art, literature and popular culture" AND a cookery reference book. Outside my own commissioning as publisher/author, I have one for an "Encyclopedia of Messiahs and Millenarians" from a US academic publishing house. They are prepared to wait "years" for it, they said recently.
